Welcome to another great school year at St. Mary's. We are having a fantastic week filled with getting to know each other as well as establishing and practicing routines. As we move forward, I wanted to let you know about a couple of pieces of information.
Every parent needs to read the parent handbook that was sent home on the first day. Please sign and return the top page of the handbook by Friday September 4th if you have not already done so.
All textbooks should be covered with the white St. Mary's covers that were sent home on Monday and Tuesday. They have all been sent home to be covered at this point. All workbooks need to be covered with contact paper. Office supply stores are a great place to get it. However, due to the return to school, some stores may be out.
Any assignments that your child has will be written down in their agenda at the end of everyday. They also will be recording the color they were on on our behavior chart. Please check and inital it every nightas part of their homework.
Each child has a homework folder that will be going home every night. This folder will not only hold any loose homework pages but also important notes and information from school. Please make sure to check and empty this folder nightly of every paper except for the behavior calendar.
Our classroom behavior chart is a color clothespin chart. The students have a clothespin that can move up or down the chart depending on their behavior. At the end of the day, each student will draw a smiley face in the color crayon in their agenda representing where their clip was. I will go into detail about this on Back to School Night. If your child is on yellow, orange, or red, they will be meeting privately with me to discuss why their clip is there and how they can improve.
Please plan to attend our Back to School Night on Thursday September 10th at 7:00pm. I will be explaining a lot about how our classroom works.
If you have any questions, please contact me by using the "contact the 3rd grade teacher" link on the right hand side on the website. Thank you for your support as work together this year!
